Turned Parts Manufacturer with Rapid Quotation System

Date:2026-08-07Article editor:Starting Point PrecisionViews:193

In precision turned parts sourcing, generic quotes waste time. Engineers need actionable data – not promises. Our quotation system follows four concrete modules, each with defined steps, timelines, and calculators. Below is the exact workflow we apply to every inquiry.

1. Two‑Hour Response – Step‑by‑Step Workflow

We guarantee a preliminary quote within 120 minutes from receipt of your CAD file. The process is fixed:

       Time (min) ActionResponsible
0‑5Receive 3D/2D drawing (STEP/IGES/PDF)Sales desk
5‑20Initial geometry check – identify critical tolerancesSenior engineer
20‑50CAM simulation (SolidCAM / Mastercam) – estimate rough cycle timeProgramming team
50‑80Material availability check (stock or order)Procurement
80‑100Draft process route – select machines from our precision equipment listProduction planner
100‑120Finalise preliminary quote and send to clientSales manager

Example: A stainless steel shaft (Ø25×150mm) was quoted in 112 minutes last week.

2. Process Route Estimation – Machine‑Specific Assignment

We do not say “we will turn it”. We specify which machine, which operation, and estimated time.

OperationMachine (Model from our list)Estimated Time (per piece)Tolerance Achieved
Primary turningGermany DMG CTX beta 8004.2 min±0.015 mm
Secondary milling (flats)Japan LGMazak VCN‑510C3.0 min±0.02 mm
Cross‑drillingUS HAAS VF31.8 min±0.03 mm
ThreadingJapan TAKZSAWA NEX‑1080.9 min±0.02 mm
Final inspection (CMM)Zeiss CMM2.5 minN/A

Total machine time per piece = 12.4 minutes. This estimation is provided in writing, with a Gantt‑chart style timeline for batch sizes (e.g., 100, 500, 2000 pcs). We also include setup time (45 min for first‑off) and tooling changes. For material properties and machinability data, we reference standard sources such as ASTM A582 for stainless steel.

3. Itemised Expense Breakdown – Real Cost Elements

Our quotation contains a fixed‑format cost table with actual line items (USD, based on current market rates). Below is a real example for the above stainless steel part (order: 500 pcs):

Cost ComponentCalculation BasisAmount (USD)Notes
Raw material (SUS303 bar)Ø30×3000mm bar, 2.5 kg/pc @ $4.2/kg$5,250Includes 10% scrap allowance
CNC turning (DMG CTX beta 800)Machine rate $85/hr × 4.2 min × 500 = 35 hr$2,975Rate includes power, coolant, basic tooling
Milling (LGMazak)Machine rate $72/hr × 3.0 min × 500 = 25 hr$1,800
Cross‑drilling (HAAS)Rate $65/hr × 1.8 min × 500 = 15 hr$975
Threading (TAKZSAWA)Rate $68/hr × 0.9 min × 500 = 7.5 hr$510
CMM inspection$50/hr × 2.5 min × 500 = 20.8 hr$1,040First‑off + random sample
Surface passivationSubcontract $0.35/pc$175
Packaging & shippingExport carton + pallet$320To major port
Subtotal
$13,045
Setup & programming (one‑off)Fixed$450Amortised over batch
Total
$13,495= $26.99/pc

This breakdown is part of every formal quote. No hidden fees.

4. Rush Order Evaluation – Clear Surcharge & Lead‑time

When you request expedited delivery, we evaluate based on current machine utilisation (updated daily). The formula:

    ●  If target machines have ≥20% idle time → Rush possible, +15% surcharge, lead‑time = normal × 0.65.

    ●  If machines are fully loaded but overtime allowed → +30% surcharge, lead‑time = normal × 0.5.

    ●  If outsourcing required to our partner shops → +50% surcharge, but still faster than normal.

We provide a written rush evaluation within the same 2‑hour window, stating exact new delivery date and the surcharge amount.

Real case: A medical client needed 200 pcs of titanium M6×20 screws in 3 days (normal 7 days). Our DMG CTX beta 800 had 30% idle capacity; we applied +15% surcharge, delivered in 2.5 days.

Summary – What You Receive in Your Quote Package

    ●  Preliminary quote (2 hours)

    ●  Itemised cost table (as above)

    ●  Rush option with surcharge and new ETA

All backed by our fleet – see the full precision equipment list including DMG HSC 75 linear five‑axis, Sodick ALN400Gs wire EDM, and more.

We do not give generic answers. Every quote is built on real machine data, current material prices, and shift schedules.

Please contact us to discuss your specific manufacturing requirements – we will apply this same workflow to your parts.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

1. How do you guarantee the 2‑hour response if I send a complex assembly drawing?
We focus only on the turned components within the assembly. If multiple parts, we quote the most critical one first and follow up with others within 24h. The 2‑h timer starts after we receive a clear indication of which parts need turning.

2. Can you provide the process route estimation in a Gantt chart format?
Yes. For orders above 100 pcs, we include a visual timeline showing setup, each machine operation, inspection, and packing – all with start/end times.

3. Is the expense breakdown binding for the final invoice?
We guarantee that final costs will not exceed the quoted breakdown by more than 5%, unless you change material, tolerances, or quantity. Any deviation is communicated and approved beforehand.

4. What if my rush request requires using a machine that is already booked?
We then evaluate overtime shifts on that same machine (if operators available) or transfer to an equivalent model (e.g., HAAS VF3 instead of LGMazak). We always provide two rush options – one internal, one with partner support.
